HOME SALES RALLY IN NOVEMBER

 

The number of homes sold across Maryland in November climbed by more than 18 percent, according to the Maryland Association of REALTORS® (MAR).  The smaller rural counties of Caroline, Kent, Somerset, Talbot and Worcester posted declines in sales but the more populated areas had strong gains.

 Average and median prices also posted gains statewide, with increases of 1.9 and 2.7 percent, respectively, as compared to November of 2015.  “The surge in home sales leaves us optimistic for a strong finish to 2016.” said MAR President Shelly Murray. Murray added, “the combination of low interest rates and pending units will likely result in a significant number of home sales in December.”

 

Maryland monthly housing statistics are compiled by data as reported by MRIS and the Coastal Association of REALTORS®. For the purposes of this report, “units” are defined as the closed sales and “pending units” are properties under contract. Months of inventory are based on the current active inventory and monthly sales for the corresponding month.
