Maryland Association of REALTORS® Fights New Tax

The Maryland Association of REALTORS® launched a major print advertisement campaign to help DEFEAT the proposed state tax on property management fees. The 35,000 member group featured multiple full page advertisements in the Baltimore Sun, the Washington Post, the Capital, the Gazette of Politics and Business, and the Maryland Daily Record.

The advertisement featured an open letter to the Maryland public from MAR president Carole A. Maclure that was sharply critical of the proposal to extend the sales tax to property management services.

Carole Maclure assumes the office of President of the Maryland Association of REALTORS®

(Annapolis, Md) Carole Maclure, ABRM, CRB, assumes the office of President of the Maryland Association of REALTORS® (MAR) on October 1, the association announced. Maclure, a 27-year real estate professional, is a manager of the Long & Foster Bethesda Gateway office in Bethesda, Md. Maclure was formally installed at the MAR Annual Conference in Ocean City, Maryland.

MAR Announces Partnership with Sage Policy Group, Inc.

The Maryland Association of REALTORS® (MAR) announced that it has retained Sage Policy Group, Inc. an economic and policy consulting firm as consultants. The Baltimore based firm, which specializes in economic, fiscal and legislative analysis, program evaluation and organization and strategic development, will conduct studies of housing markets and the economy as well as special projects for MAR.
